Socrates was born in 470/469 BC and died at the age of 71 in 399 BC in Athens. He was a great classical Greek philosopher and was considered as one of the founders of western philosophy. He was chiefly renowned as the great teacher is Plato, Xenophon, Aristippus, Antisthenes. He was the son of the sculptor and a midwife.

He himself never wrote any book but his ideas can be seen through his famous students especially from Plato. Plato wrote the book 'Dialogs' in which he mentioned Socrates' discussions. His orthodoxical political and religious views draw everyone against him and he was ordered to drink a brew of poison hemlock in 399 BC which Socrates did in the company of his students.

'Crito we owe a cock to Asclepius (the god of medicine)
Pay it and do not neglect it.
